Happy Friday, Readers.
Today marks the official opening of nominations for the 2026 municipal election, giving community members the opportunity to step forward and shape the future of local leadership.
Individuals considering a run for council or mayor can now begin the nomination process. Maybe you’ve never even considered running for your local council — that’s okay. Municipal councils are made up of people who cared enough to learn the systems and get involved.
The Association of Municipalities of Ontario created these educational resources for exactly that reason.
If you’re reading to put your name forward, see the official announcement from the City of Owen Sound here. Other Grey-Bruce residents — check in with your municipal office to get started.
