As students in Grey Bruce County return to school next week, Grey Bruce OPP reminds drivers to stay alert and cautious, especially around school zones and buses.

With increased traffic and the possibility of encountering school buses during commutes, drivers need to slow down and be prepared to stop. Failing to stop for a school bus with flashing red lights is a serious offense, carrying hefty fines and demerit points.

Parents should also remind their children about road safety. Cyclists must wear helmets and follow traffic rules, while pedestrians and scooter users should stick to sidewalks or walk on the left side facing traffic.

OPP said in a media release Thursday they’ll be conducting high-visibility patrols around school zones to ensure everyone's safety during this busy time.
