FreshCo and YMCA Team Up for Job Fair in Owen Sound Ahead of Store Opening
FreshCo partners with YMCA Employment Services to host a job fair in Owen Sound on July 8, aiming to fill approximately 75 part-time positions at its new store.
FreshCo, a discount grocery chain owned by Sobeys Inc., is preparing to open its doors in Owen Sound, and with it comes a hiring opportunity for local job seekers.
In collaboration with YMCA of Owen Sound Grey Bruce’s Employment Services, the company will host a job fair on Tuesday, July 8, to recruit staff for its new location.
Approximately 75 part-time positions are available across various departments, including cashier, grocery, produce, meat, and deli. Most full-time roles have already been filled, according to organizers.
“We’re thrilled to welcome FreshCo to Owen Sound and proud to support their hiring efforts through this Job Fair,” said Matt Shute, Director of Community Initiatives and Employment Services at YMCA of Owen Sound Grey Bruce.
“Partnerships like this help strengthen our local economy and connect job seekers to meaningful employment opportunities,” he added.
The job fair will take place at the YMCA Employment Services office, located at 290 9th Street East, from 12:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Attendees are encouraged to bring a resume and a positive attitude. No appointment is necessary, and walk-ins are welcome.
FreshCo franchisee Peter Clifford emphasized the importance of hiring from within the community: “We’re looking for friendly, hard-working individuals who are passionate about delivering great service and being part of a strong, supportive team. Partnering with the YMCA helps us connect with local talent and make the hiring process as smooth as possible.”
YMCA Employment Services will provide on-site support during the job fair, including resume assistance, interview preparation, and application help.
The new FreshCo location adds to the region’s grocery retail options while also contributing to employment growth in Grey Bruce.
