Four Youth Arrested in West-Side Convenience Store Swarming Theft
Four youths have been arrested in connection with a $800 theft at a west-side Owen Sound convenience store; police continue to seek one remaining suspect.
Police have arrested four male youths in connection with a theft that took place Friday, March 28, at a convenience store on the city’s west side. One suspect remains outstanding.
According to the Owen Sound Police Service, five masked individuals entered the store during the afternoon hours, selected various items, and placed them in backpacks before fleeing without paying.
While no threats or violence were used toward the store clerk, the stolen merchandise is valued at approximately $800.
All four arrested individuals face charges including Theft Under $5000, Disguise with Intent, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, and Obstruct Police. Due to their age, their identities are protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
Police are urging the fifth suspect, who has not yet been apprehended, to turn themselves in.
The incident drew public attention after surveillance footage was shared on social media, helping generate leads that police said played a significant role in advancing the investigation.
