Four-Year-Old Drowns in Pond at Southgate Township Property Near Dundalk
A four-year-old child has died after going missing while swimming in a pond on private property in Proton Station, near Dundalk. The OPP recovered the body on July 14 following a multi-agency search.
A four-year-old child has died following a drowning incident at a private property in Southgate Township.
On Sunday evening, July 13, 2025, just after 7:00 p.m., emergency responders were called to a farm near Southgate Road 26 after the child disappeared while swimming in a pond with family members.
A large-scale search effort was launched involving multiple agencies. The OPP Emergency Response Team, the Canine Unit, and the Underwater Search and Recovery Unit assisted the Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).
Fire and emergency services from Owen Sound, Hanover, and Southgate also responded.
On the morning of Monday, July 14, the child’s body was recovered from the pond by the OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Unit.
No further details about the child’s identity have been released at this time. The OPP has not indicated whether an investigation is ongoing, and no foul play is suspected based on current information.
