Brightshores names four new Board members, adding legal, clinical, and patient voices to support regional healthcare governance.
Brightshores Health System has added four new members to its Board of Directors, following appointments confirmed at the organization’s annual meeting on June 25, 2025.
The appointments include two directors and two ex-officio members, each bringing experience from legal, clinical, and patient advisory backgrounds. The Board oversees governance and strategic direction for the hospital corporation, which operates sites across Grey and Bruce counties.
Ian Scarlett, a corporate and commercial lawyer with experience in healthcare IT, joins as a director. Linda MacLeod, a former Vice President of Patient Services and Chief Nursing Officer at Collingwood General and Marine Hospital, also joins the board in a director role. Both bring administrative and systems-level healthcare experience to the organization.
Dr. Todd Webster, recently appointed as Medical President, Urban, joins the Board as an ex-officio member, providing representation for Brightshores’ medical staff. Laurel Silenzi, a Patient Advisor with a background in nursing and volunteer experience at the Southampton and Owen Sound hospitals, also joins as an ex-officio member.
The appointments follow the departure of four board members: Joanne Flewwelling (Past Chair), Martha Rogers (Director), Dr. Eric Brown (former Medical President, Urban), and Grace Clarke (Patient Advisor). All served as volunteers.
According to Board Chair Deborah Pope, the new appointments come at a time of ongoing change in the provincial healthcare landscape, as Brightshores continues to develop a more integrated regional system.
