Former OS Attack Player Matt Petgrave Believed in Custody for Manslaughter
Charge follows the death of Adam Johnson, who was fatally injured by a skate blade during a play involving Petgrave.
Matt Petgrave, formerly of the Owen Sound Attack, is widely believed to be the person charged with manslaughter in the death of ex-NHL player Adam Johnson during a British Elite Ice Hockey League game.
Johnson, 29, was fatally injured after being struck in the neck by a skate blade in an Oct. 28 game between Petgrave’s Sheffield Steelers and Johnson’s Nottingham Panthers.
South Yorkshire Police announced the arrest on November 14 but declined to identify the man. In a media release, the department announced they had arrested a man on suspicion of manslaughter and that he is currently in custody.
