First Rider Program Returns: Hands-On Bus Safety Sessions Across Grey-Bruce
The First Rider Program returns this August, offering free hands-on school bus safety sessions for young riders and their families in Owen Sound, Kincardine, Flesherton, Port Elgin, and Hanover.

The Association of Grey-Bruce Bus Operators is inviting young students and their families to take part in the 2025–2026 First Rider Program, a free, drop-in event designed to help children get comfortable with school buses and learn about bus safety before the new school year begins.
The hands-on program is especially helpful for first-time riders and their parents or guardians. Families will have a chance to review bus safety rules, explore a real school bus, and ask questions.
Organizers recommend watching the short Buzzy Bee Bus Safety Video beforehand to learn what’s expected on the bus and how to stay safe.
No registration is required — families can attend any session that fits their schedule.
