Driver Charged After June Collision That Injured Motorcyclist in Georgian Bluffs
Grey Bruce OPP have charged a 39-year-old Owen Sound resident with careless driving causing bodily harm after a June 23 crash on Grey Road 17 in Georgian Bluffs, one of two serious collisions that day
A 39-year-old driver from Owen Sound has been charged with careless driving causing bodily harm under the Highway Traffic Act following a serious collision between a vehicle and a motorcycle last month in Georgian Bluffs.
The crash occurred around 3:48 p.m. on Monday, June 23, 2025, at the intersection of Grey Road 17 and Big Rock Road. Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Grey County EMS, and local fire crews responded to the scene.
The motorcyclist sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to hospital for treatment.
The accused is scheduled to appear in Provincial Offences Court in Owen Sound on August 11, 2025.
This incident was one of two serious motorcycle collisions reported by Grey Bruce OPP on June 23. Both resulted in life-altering injuries and followed two recent fatal motorcycle crashes in the region.
In a media statement the following day, the OPP urged drivers and motorcyclists alike to prioritize safety amid increasing summer traffic.
“We are deeply concerned by the recent trend in serious and fatal collisions,” said Staff Sergeant Henry Thalen on June 24. “Speeding, aggressive driving, and inattention are putting lives at risk. We're asking everyone—whether you're behind the wheel or on two wheels—to slow down, stay alert, and share the road.”
Police emphasized safe driving behaviours, including obeying posted speed limits, staying attentive, and watching for motorcycles, particularly at intersections and when changing lanes. Riders are also reminded to wear full protective gear, ride defensively, and keep their vehicles in safe operating condition.
Grey Bruce OPP said they will maintain proactive patrols and increased traffic enforcement throughout the summer.
