Dog Shot and Later Euthanized After Attacking Children in Dundalk
Grey Bruce OPP say an officer shot a dog in Dundalk after reports the unrestrained animal bit a child and was aggressive toward others. Two people were treated for minor injuries.
Grey Bruce OPP say an officer shot a dog in Dundalk on Wednesday morning after responding to reports of an aggressive, unrestrained animal on Russell Street.
Police report the call came in at approximately 8:41 a.m. on October 15, 2025. According to the OPP, the dog bit one child and was attempting to bite another. The owner was on scene and trying to restrain the animal but was not successful.
Officers who arrived encountered the dog. Police say one officer was bitten while attempting to gain control. In the interest of public safety, officers shot the dog. The animal was later euthanized.
According to the OPP, two people involved sustained minor injuries and received medical treatment.
OPP did not release any information on the dog’s breed, size, age, or sex. The ages of the children and whether the second child was physically injured were not released. No information was provided on whether any bylaw or criminal charges are being considered.
