The Roxy Young Company Presents Disney’s Alice in Wonderland JR: A Vibrant Retelling of a Disney Classic!
The Roxy Young Company is excited to announce its wacky and colourful production of Disney’s Alice in Wonderland JR. This enchanting musical will bring the iconic characters of Wonderland to life on the Roxy stage April 26 & May 2 at 7:30pm and April 26 & May 3 at 2pm.
Carrie Cathrae-Keeling is making her directorial debut with this rendition of Alice in Wonderland, specially adapted for young performers. Fall down the rabbit hole with Alice as she navigates the curious world of Wonderland on a journey of self-discovery in this 60-minute stage adaptation of the classic Disney animated film.
When young Alice finds herself in a strange world where everything seems upside down, she must find her way home… and find herself along the way. As she travels through Wonderland, she encounters all of the iconic characters that audiences have come to love.
“I wanted my first time as director to be memorable and Alice in Wonderland was the perfect choice”, says director Carrie Cathrae-Keeling. “This classic but truly fantastical story has given myself, the actors and the crew true creative freedom to explore and break through any and all boundaries.”
“Enjoy your voyage into a land of glowing mushrooms, a silly self important dodo, sassy little flowers, the coolest caterpillar ever, a frantic rabbit, some slightly creepy cats, a collection of wacky characters, our eccentric hatter and hare, a majestic yet loud queen and her gentle king and most of all Alice filled with childlike wonder and joy,” Cathrae-Keeling added.
The young cast and crew, ranging in age from 11 to 17, have dedicated countless hours to perfecting their performances and ensuring every song and scene is executed with passion and precision. They are supported by an exceptional backstage crew, comprising both experienced theatre veterans and enthusiastic youth.
