We start our week off with a brief message from the front lines of the postal strike. C.U.P.W. member and Canada Post worker Becky LeQuyere shared the above photo and the following message for community members who aren’t sure what the current strike is about:
“I love my job, care very much for my customers, and take great pride in working in our community! The fact that I cannot be out there right now kills me. Especially at this time of year! Trust me when I say that I would rather be working.
What we are NOT, however, is lazy, entitled, overpaid, uneducated, greedy, privileged, spoiled, unskilled, whiny minimal workers holding Canadians hostage and trying to ruin everyone's Christmas.
There are SO many misconceptions surrounding our jobs, our duties, our pay, our benefits and our pensions.
I invite you to please have a conversation with us. Come down to the picket lines if you can and ask the questions. We would be more than happy to have some informative conversations!”
CBC also offers a good explainer/recap for those interested.
