Community Waterfront Heritage Centre Brings Back Folk For Heritage Concert
On February 1st, 2025, the Community Waterfront Heritage Centre will host its annual Folk For Heritage concert at the Owen Sound Legion, featuring performances by local musicians Larry Jensen and more
The Community Waterfront Heritage Centre (CWHC) is expanding its winter programming with the return of Folk For Heritage, an annual folk concert featuring beloved local performers.
This year’s concert will take place on Saturday, February 1st at the Owen Sound Legion (Royal Canadian Legion Memorial Branch 6, 1450 2nd Ave W.). Doors open at 7:00 p.m., and the event will showcase live performances by Larry Jensen and Trish and Dave Hawkins, who will play a mix of classic folk hits.
Proceeds from ticket sales will support the CWHC’s mission to preserve and celebrate the region’s marine, rail, and industrial heritage.
The concert is part of the CWHC’s growing efforts to expand programming during a time of year when the museum has traditionally seen less activity. Recent initiatives include a workshop in partnership with Sheatre and a "Painting Party" hosted at Upwards Art Studio.
February will also feature guest speakers Alessia Farris from the Craigleith Heritage Depot on February 13th and local historian Scott Cameron on February 15th, both hosted at the museum.
These events align with the museum's Social Prescriptions Engage Cultural Seniors (SPECS) program, which is designed to combat social isolation among local seniors by offering opportunities to connect, learn, and engage in creative activities.
