Community Infrastructure Grants Now Open to Grey-Bruce Municipalities, Clubs and BIAs
FedDev Ontario's Build Communities Strong Fund offers Grey-Bruce municipalities, non-profits and BIAs $125K–$1M for community infrastructure. Deadlines July 9 and Aug. 6.
FedDev Ontario is now accepting applications for the Build Communities Strong Fund – Local Impact Stream, which offers non-repayable grants of between $125,000 and $1 million per project for community infrastructure across southern Ontario.
The money comes with strings that local applicants will want to plan around: it runs on a 50/50 cost-sharing model, meaning FedDev covers up to half a project’s cost and the applicant must fund the rest. Projects also need to be shovel-ready.
Eligible work includes the construction, expansion, renovation, or improvement of publicly accessible spaces such as community centres, recreation and sport facilities, cultural spaces, parks, and outdoor gathering areas.
Eligible applicants include municipalities, incorporated non-profits, Indigenous non-profit organizations, Business Improvement Areas, and certain public-sector organizations, which puts most of Grey-Bruce’s municipalities, service clubs, and downtown BIAs in range.
There are two intake deadlines, and the first is close:
July 9, 2026 — for projects starting between April 30, 2026 and March 31, 2027
August 6, 2026 — for projects starting on or after April 1, 2027
Organizations unsure whether they qualify can use FedDev’s self-screening tool and review the application guidelines before applying.
The Local Impact Stream is part of the national Build Communities Strong Fund, through which FedDev Ontario is investing $330 million over four years in southern Ontario to strengthen local economies, communities, and quality of life.
Projects larger than $1 million are handled separately under Housing, Infrastructure and Communities Canada’s Direct Delivery stream. See the granting website for more information.
