City to Honour Sharif Rahman with Tree Planting as Secretive Murder Investigation Continues

The City of Owen Sound will plant a commemorative oak tree in honour of Sharif Rahman, a local business owner and YMCA board member, as the investigation into his August 2023 death continues.

The City of Owen Sound announced Tuesday it will plant an oak tree outside the Julie McArthur Regional Recreation Centre to honour Sharif Rahman, a local restaurateur and YMCA board member who was fatally assaulted outside his business in the River District last year.
