City of Owen Sound to Begin 2025 Road Resurfacing Project on September 4
Owen Sound will resurface 22 road segments beginning September 4, 2025. The six- to eight-week project will cause traffic and parking disruptions.
Owen Sound residents can expect temporary traffic and parking disruptions this fall as the City begins resurfacing work on 22 road segments starting Thursday, September 4, 2025.
The project, which is expected to take six to eight weeks, will involve milling existing pavement, adjusting underground infrastructure, paving with new hot mix asphalt, ensuring proper drainage, and installing new pavement markings.
To allow crews to complete the work, on-street parking will not be permitted in affected areas. The City is asking residents to avoid parking along designated roadways during the project.
This year’s resurfacing will include sections of several major neighbourhood routes, including:
West side: portions of 29th Street W, 21st Street W, 20th Street W, 11th Street W, 7th Street W, 5th Avenue W, 5th Avenue ‘A’ W, 2nd Street W, 2nd Street ‘A’ W, 3rd Avenue W, and 1st Street W.
East side: sections of 18th Street E, 5th Street E, 6th Street E, 4th Avenue E, 3rd Avenue E, and 7th Street ‘A’ E.
A full list of all affected road segments is available on the City’s website.
Motorists are advised to follow posted signage in construction areas and drive with caution.
According to the City, road resurfacing priorities are determined using the Pavement Condition Index (PCI), which evaluates the type, severity, and extent of pavement distress, along with the age of the roadway.
Residents can report potholes and other road maintenance issues through the City’s online form at form.owensound.ca/Report-a-Concern or by calling City Hall at 519-376-1440.
