City of Owen Sound Seeks Public Input on Planning Policy Updates with Open House
Owen Sound residents are invited to a July 17 open house at the Bayshore Community Centre to review and comment on draft updates to the City’s Official Plan, Zoning Bylaw, and Urban Design Guidelines.
The City of Owen Sound is inviting residents to a public Open House on July 17, focused on significant updates to local land use planning policies.
The event will take place at the Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre from 3:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in an informal drop-in format.
According to a City of Owen Sound news release, the event will give community members the opportunity to “review draft planning documents, ask questions, and share their input.”
City staff and planning consultants from MHBC Planning will be available to discuss the materials and answer questions.
“These planning documents serve as the foundation for how Owen Sound manages land use, development, and urban design,” the City stated. “The updates are intended to align municipal policies with recent changes to provincial planning legislation and to better prepare the city for future growth.”
All related background materials and draft versions of the documents are available for review on the City’s online engagement portal at OurCity.OwenSound.ca/Planning.
The statement noted, “City planning policies impact everyone who lives, works, or invests in Owen Sound. Whether you are interested in housing, neighbourhood character, commercial and employment uses, or open space, citizens are encouraged to get involved in the process and attend the Open House.”
The City promised that additional public engagement opportunities, including a formal Public Meeting, will be announced in the coming weeks.
