Child & Family Services Seek Permanent Grey-Bruce Foster Home for 10-year-old Marcus
Family & Children’s Services of St. Thomas/Elgin and Bruce Grey Child & Family Services are working together to find a permanent, stable foster home in Grey-Bruce for a boy named Marcus.

One home can change everything.
We are looking for a foster caregiver/s for Marcus, a ten-year-old boy. If something in you is already leaning forward, this is for you.
Marcus loves soccer and he loves the quiet. He is the kind of kid who can run full speed at the things he cares about and then settle into a calm moment just as easily. He is a proud Caribbean-Canadian boy who carries his identity with him wherever he goes.
He builds things, loses himself in music, and has a creativity that shows up when you least expect it. He stays connected to his family. And he knows one thing with real clarity: where he is living is not where he belongs. He is ready for something different, and he is advocating for that change himself.
Marcus is all of these things despite the significant hardship he has faced from the very beginning of his life. He has experienced the disappointment of caregivers who were not able to truly centre his strengths or honour his story.
He is deeply attuned to the world around him, and when life feels unpredictable, his whole system can flood. That is what happens when someone has not been given the stability he deserves.
What Marcus needs is a caregiver with the presence and capacity to help him navigate and move forward. Someone who understands that his hardest moments are not who he is. They are what he learned in order to survive.
His day-to-day reflects just how engaged he is. He attends school and values his friendships. He plays soccer. He works to maintain and celebrate his Caribbean-Canadian identity. He builds, he creates, he puts on music and finds his own kind of quiet within it. He is also someone who values space to breathe just as much as he values time with adults who truly listen.
Marcus is looking for caregivers who can nurture him through the next stages of his life. Being willing to show up for a child like Marcus transforms the caregiver too. You get the opportunity to see the world from a very different angle. His.
He does not need someone perfect. He needs someone present. Skilled, steady, and ready for the kind of connection that does not come along every day.
Already growing. Already reaching. All he needs now is someone to reach back.
If that someone might be you, even if you are not quite sure yet, please reach out. We would love to talk it through together.
