Bruce Power Contributes $150,000 Toward New CT Scanner at Owen Sound Hospital
A $150,000 donation from Bruce Power will support the purchase of a new CT scanner at the Owen Sound Hospital, which performs over 16,000 scans each year.
Bruce Power has contributed $150,000 to the Brightshores Health System Owen Sound Foundation to support the purchase of a new CT scanner for the Owen Sound Hospital.
The existing scanner is nearing the end of its operational life, and the hospital has identified the need for a replacement to ensure continued access to advanced diagnostic imaging across Grey and Bruce counties.
The Owen Sound Hospital performs more than 16,000 CT scans annually and serves as the regional stroke centre.
CT, or computed tomography, is a critical diagnostic tool that allows physicians to quickly identify and assess a wide range of conditions, including strokes, cancers, internal injuries, and infections. The new equipment is expected to provide faster, more detailed imaging, supporting more efficient diagnoses and treatment.
“We’re very grateful for this investment. The new CT scanner will provide our health-care team with access to the advanced tools they need to deliver the highest standard of diagnostic care to patients across the region,” said Ann Ford, President and CEO of Brightshores Health System.
A second CT scanner operated by Brightshores Health System is located at the Southampton Hospital.
The funding is part of a broader effort by the Owen Sound Foundation to raise funds for essential diagnostic tools to support patient care throughout the region.
