Bruce Grey Music Hall of Fame Hosts Open House at Owen Sound Legion July 18
Committee members will staff the Bruce Grey Music Hall of Fame at Owen Sound Legion Branch 6 on Saturday as part of Legion centenary events.
The Bruce Grey Music Hall of Fame will hold an open house at the Owen Sound Legion, Branch 6, on Saturday, July 18 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the branch’s North Atlantic Room.
Committee members will be on hand for the three hours. Admission is free.
The Hall of Fame says the event is part of programming marking the Royal Canadian Legion’s 100th anniversary.
The display itself is not new. The Hall of Fame relocated to Branch 6 following a February 2022 fire that destroyed the Hepworth Shallow Lake Legion, where it had been housed in the auditorium. The organization said at the time that the fire destroyed its entire collection and display infrastructure. Owen Sound Legion members voted to take in the Hall of Fame, and it held a grand opening at Branch 6 on June 23, 2024.
“We have a marvelous historical display which continues to grow,” committee member Sue Murdoch said in a written statement. Murdoch took over as a Hall of Fame director following the death of her husband, Bill Murdoch, who co-founded the organization with Arnie Clark.
The Hall of Fame says the display is open to the public during regular Legion hours, excluding times the room is booked for other events. It has not published those hours; the Legion office confirms access.
Inductees for the Class of 2026 have not been named. The organization says an announcement is coming but has not set a date.
