Please join us to celebrate our newest book, Brilliant Obsession, Diane Allengame's epic first novel!
For more than 160 years, the Imperial Tower lighthouses (Point Clark, Chantry Island, Cove Island, Griffith Island, Christian Island, and Nottawasaga Island) have stood sentinel along the coasts of Lake Huron and Georgian Bay.
Retired archivist Diane Allengame creates the time in which these engineering marvels were created, blending known people and events with a colourful series of characters and episodes that bring the 1850s to life.
Diane has created a plausible backstory for John Brown, the contractor whose obsession with the towers threatened to ruin him, and carefully describes the challenges and successes he faced as he built the beloved landmarks that remain with us today.
Add in historical accuracy, the reality of life without electricity, cleared forests, or passable roadways, the need to import glass and lens material from France, a charming romance, and you've got the makings of a great new local read.
Autographed copies of Brilliant Obsession ($30) can be reserved at 519 376-4233. Join us for the book launch and author talk (2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 2) to learn more about this remarkable book.
