Bluewater Education Foundation Hosting Fall Events To Support Outdoor Learning
Two fall events near Wiarton will raise funds for the Bluewater Outdoor Education Centre, including the IDEA Gala on November 15 and Open House on October 19.

The Bluewater Education Foundation (BEF) has announced two fall events aimed at supporting inclusive outdoor education through fundraising and community engagement.
OEC Open House – October 19
The Outdoor Education Centre will also host its fifth annual Open House on Sunday, October 19 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The free, family-friendly event offers wagon rides, outdoor games, and activities on the property near Boat Lake.
Visitors can also explore the observatory with the Bluewater Astronomical Society, try the new low ropes course, and enjoy food prepared by Chef Rob, available for purchase. Donations are welcome, with proceeds going toward facility upgrades and programming.
IDEA Gala – November 15
The annual IDEA Gala will take place on Saturday, November 15 at the Bluewater Outdoor Education Centre. This year’s theme, “Accessibility in Nature,” highlights efforts to make outdoor spaces more inclusive.
Guest speaker Julie Sawchuk, an accessibility consultant, author, and educator, will deliver the keynote address. The evening includes a locally sourced four-course dinner prepared by Chef Rob, a guided tour of the property, and the launch of the OEC’s online auction.
Funds raised will go toward accessibility initiatives at the Outdoor Education Centre, including infrastructure improvements and programming that supports one-to-one camper assistance.
Supporting Outdoor Learning
The Bluewater Education Foundation says proceeds from both events will help advance its mission to strengthen outdoor learning opportunities in Grey-Bruce, while expanding access to nature-based programs for people of all abilities.
