Billy Bishop Museum to Celebrate 25 Years of Honouring Local Veterans with Luncheon & Guest Speaker
The Billy Bishop Museum marks 25 years of its Honouring Our Local Veterans program with a community luncheon and keynote by Brigadier General (Ret.) Daniel MacIsaac on August 10 in Owen Sound.

To mark a quarter century of recognizing military service in Grey and Bruce Counties, the Billy Bishop Museum is hosting a special reunion luncheon celebrating the 25th anniversary of its Honouring Our Local Veterans (HOLV) program.
Since its inception, the HOLV initiative has honoured 219 veterans, including those who served in the First and Second World Wars, the Korean War, various peacekeeping missions, Afghanistan, and even Canadians who enlisted with U.S. forces during the Vietnam and Gulf Wars.
The upcoming event invites both previously recognized veterans and those yet to be honoured, as well as currently serving Canadian Armed Forces members and members of the public.
The commemorative luncheon will take place on Sunday, August 10 at 11:00 a.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 6 in Owen Sound. The event will begin with the return of the 2024 HOLV plaques, followed by a keynote address from Brigadier General (Retired) Daniel MacIsaac, BEng, MDS, MPP, CD.
Veterans and active service members can attend free of charge. Public tickets are available for $35 and can be purchased or reserved through the Billy Bishop Museum’s website at www.billybishopmuseum.org/events.
Guests are encouraged to bring their previously awarded HOLV plaques for a group photo to commemorate this milestone. A buffet lunch will be generously provided by the Branch 6 Ladies' Auxiliary.
In its event announcement, The Billy Bishop Museum extended its thanks to Veterans Affairs Canada and Kelso Villa Retirement Community for their continued support of the HOLV program and its mission to honour the service and sacrifice of local veterans.
