BiblioArts 2025 to Celebrate Book Arts and Printmaking in Downtown Owen Sound This Weekend
Discover BiblioArts 2025 in Owen Sound, a two-day celebration of book arts and printmaking featuring live demos, workshops, and a paper arts marketplace at Georgian Bay School of the Arts.
The Georgian Bay School of the Arts will host the second annual BiblioArts Book Arts & Print Fair on May 16 and 17, offering a weekend of demonstrations, workshops, and a vendor marketplace dedicated to the wide-ranging world of book and print arts.
Co-organized by Kari Bronaugh, Paul Hunter, and Leah Springate, the event is open to all ages and skill levels, with some components free to attend.
The event opens Friday evening with BIG PRINTS, a free outdoor public printing event behind the Georgian Bay School of the Arts on 1st Avenue East. Running from 5 to 8 p.m., the demonstration will feature the use of a steamroller to create large-scale relief prints, offering a dramatic and unconventional look at printmaking techniques.
On Saturday, the fair continues from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at GB Arts' studio facility at 932 2nd Avenue East. The day will include a Book Arts Marketplace, showcasing the work of local and regional artists, small publishers, and specialty vendors offering papers, tools, and materials.
Attendees can expect to find handmade books, zines, broadsides, cards, and more. The Goods Kitchen Cafe, located at the entrance to GB Arts, will be open during the fair on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Three book arts workshops are scheduled throughout the day, with sessions running from 9 to 11 a.m. and again from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Details on workshop content and registration can be found on the event’s website.
“The Book Arts” as a field includes disciplines such as bookbinding, letterpress printing, paper-making, marbling, box-making, and printmaking. Organizers say the fair aims to bring greater visibility to these crafts and connect creators with the public and with each other.
