Artists, Volunteers, and Community Leaders Invited to Bruce County’s First Cultural Symposium
Bruce County will host its first Cultural Symposium on October 8, 2025, bringing artists, volunteers, and community members together under the theme 'Common Ground: Connecting Through Culture.'
Bruce County will host its first-ever Cultural Symposium this fall, inviting artists, cultural organizations, volunteers, and community members to gather in Chesley for a day of connection and collaboration.
The event takes place on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Chesley Community Centre under the theme Common Ground: Connecting Through Culture in Bruce County.
Organizers say the symposium will highlight the role of arts, heritage, and culture in building strong rural communities, while creating space for participants to share ideas and expand their networks.
The day’s agenda includes a keynote address from Heather Keam on the culture of volunteerism and the vital role volunteers play in sustaining and growing initiatives in rural areas. Participants will also hear from local leaders, enjoy a complimentary lunch from Bruud Coffee Bar, and take part in networking and discussion sessions.
Local artist and community collaborator Heather Travis will lead an interactive networking session, helping participants expand their personal and professional connections. In addition, local youth will facilitate small group discussions on culture and community, ensuring young voices are part of the conversation.
“The Cultural Symposium is a powerful gathering of voices, ideas, and creative energy,” said Brooke McLean, Bruce County’s Director of Library Services.
“Through dialogue and collaboration, we’re strengthening the role of arts and culture in the social and economic fabric of our communities.”
Tickets are $25 per person and available online through Eventbrite. Organizers encourage early registration, as tickets must be purchased by September 24 to secure a spot.
