Arrest Made Following Replica Firearm Incident at Meaford Harbour
A Port Elgin man is facing multiple charges after police responded to reports of a suspected firearm at Meaford Harbour on July 22, 2025. No injuries reported.
A man from Port Elgin has been arrested and charged after police responded to a weapons call at Meaford Harbour on Tuesday afternoon.
At approximately 3:43 p.m. on July 22, officers from the Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to the area following a report of a male seen with what appeared to be a firearm near a children’s recreational zone.
Officers located the individual at the scene. He complied with police commands and was taken into custody without incident. Following the arrest, police determined the item in question was a replica airsoft handgun.
The suspect has been identified as 32-year-old Robert Juniper of Port Elgin. He is facing charges under both the Criminal Code and the Liquor Licence and Control Act. These include failure to comply with an undertaking, possession of break-in instruments, being intoxicated in a public place, and having liquor in an open container in an unauthorized location.
Juniper is being held in custody and is scheduled to appear for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on Wednesday, July 23.

Police have confirmed there were no injuries, and there is no ongoing threat to public safety.
