Today is the day… if you weren’t among those who voted early, this is your chance.
You should have received your voter card in the mail. Even if you didn’t, you can still register to vote on-site, with the right identification. If you’re unsure of your assigned polling station, you can look it up here.
Everything you need to know is on the Elections Canada website. Polls are open 9:30 a.m.–9:30 p.m. today.
Voting matters.
It’s not just about picking a candidate. It’s about standing up for what makes democracy work: free and fair elections, freedom of the press, and the rule of law. All of these things are under real pressure here and around the world.
A great deal has been thrown at us in the lead-up to this election, including a significant amount of misinformation, outrage, and endless noise, amplified by new technologies and designed to divide us.
Don’t lose sight of the truth. Canada isn’t broken, no matter how convenient that narrative might be for some. Canada is strong because we keep working at it, especially when it’s hard, and even when we disagree.
Voting is part of that work. It's an act of hope. A commitment to building, not tearing down.
But it doesn't end with casting a ballot.
The government we elect today — whichever party forms it — doesn’t just represent its supporters. It serves all of us. It’s ours to guide, to question, and to hold accountable. Democracy isn’t loyalty to a side; it’s our loyalty to each other, and to the ideals that make this country worth fighting for.
And when the election is over, remember: democracy isn’t just something that happens in Ottawa, either. It’s shaped in our communities and lived out in our daily choices; in how we care for our neighbours, how we build stronger and fairer places to call home, and how we keep pushing for better.
Stay engaged. Stay involved. The future we’re voting for today will be built by what we do next, and we’ll do it together, because that's the only way it gets done.
No one gets to sit the next four years out.
Don’t sit today out, either.
