The fire, caused by a faulty electrical appliance, was quickly contained and extinguished; no one was injured.
Owen Sound Fire and Emergency Services were called to a three-story building downtown this morning just before 7:30 a.m.
The caller reported a hallway filling with smoke and when they arrived, first responders found smoke coming from the third floor.
The building in the 900 block of 2nd Ave East is mixed use, with apartments over top of a currently vacant storefront.
The commercial unit was previously home to Upwards Art Studio, which moved to Heritage Place Mall several months ago.
The fire appears to have been caused by a faulty electrical appliance and was quickly contained, according to a City of Owen Sound statement.
No injuries were reported, and damages are estimated at approximately $10,000.
