Founded in 1984, the African Children’s Choir has spent four decades transforming lives through music and education. The Choir is made up of children aged 9 to 11 from across Africa, many of whom come from vulnerable backgrounds with limited access to schooling.
Participation in the Choir opens the door to education and leadership opportunities, offering a path to brighter futures for both the children and their communities.
Locally, the Choir’s visit includes more than just a performance. Eighteen children are being hosted by families in the Owen Sound area, providing a chance for cultural exchange and connection. During their stay, the children and their hosts share meals, customs, and traditions, building understanding and friendships that span continents.
“The African Children’s Choir proves just how powerful music can be,” said Choir Manager Tina Sipp. “These concerts not only provide hope and encouragement to our audiences, but they offer the children life-changing experiences that help shape them into future leaders.”
Audiences can expect an inspiring mix of traditional African songs, spirituals, and popular children’s music, all performed with the energy and joy the Choir is known for around the world.
This local performance is part of a global celebration marking the Choir’s 40 years of work bringing hope and harmony through music. For more information, visit africanchildrenschoir.com.
