'Active Incident' with Heavy Police Presence in Meaford: Areas to Avoid

Grey Bruce OPP say residents in area of Victoria Street, Ridge Road, Susan Street and St. Andrews Drive in Meaford should remain inside and others should avoid the area.

Grey Bruce OPP announced on Facebook at 1:32 p.m. on Wednesday, September 4, that there is an increased police presence in the area of Victoria Street, Ridge Road, Susan Street and St. Andrews Drive in Meaford.

Residents in the area are asked to remain in their residences. All others should avoid the area until further notice.

Police say an investigation is in its early stages. Updates will be shared when they become available.

Georgian Bay Community School (GBCS) at 197799 Grey Rd 7, Meaford, has cancelled student pickup at the request of OPP. The following notice went out to parents at 2:25 p.m.:

On September 4, 2024, at approximately 1:00 p.m., the Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a weapons complaint on Victoria Street in the Municipality of Meaford.  

Out of an abundance of caution there is a hold and secure and the community are asked to remain in their residences. 

The Grey Bruce OPP are trying to verify the information received.
