Acclaimed Journalist Anna Maria Tremonti to Speak in Port Elgin on October 23
The Bruce County Museum hosts Anna Maria Tremonti for an evening exploring storytelling, public broadcasting, and compassion in times of division.
The Bruce County Museum and Cultural Centre will welcome award-winning journalist and broadcaster Anna Maria Tremonti for a special speaking engagement on Thursday, October 23, 2025, at the Unifor Family Education Centre in Port Elgin.
Tremonti, known for her decades-long career with the CBC and her 17 years as host of The Current, will share stories drawn from her experiences as a journalist, foreign correspondent, and storyteller. Her presentation will explore the enduring importance of public broadcasting and the human connections found within stories that cross borders and cultures.
The evening promises candid reflections from Tremonti’s time reporting from international capitals, conflict zones, and Canadian communities, offering audiences a behind-the-scenes look at the challenges and rewards of journalism.
She will also address broader themes of unity, empathy, and resilience in a time marked by social and political division.

Tremonti, a two-time Gemini Award winner, has built a reputation as one of Canada’s most respected voices in journalism. Beyond her radio work, she is the creator of Welcome to Paradise, a podcast exploring trauma, resilience, and healing through personal storytelling.
