100 Women Grey Bruce Donates $34,400 to Saugeen Hospice in Largest Contribution to Date
100 Women Who Care Grey Bruce donates $34,400 to Saugeen Hospice—the group’s largest contribution to date—supporting a future residential hospice serving southern Grey-Bruce.

A local philanthropic group made up of women from across Grey and Bruce counties has made its largest donation yet, contributing $34,400 to Saugeen Hospice Inc. following its spring meeting on May 31.
The donation, made by 100 Women Who Care Grey Bruce, will support the purchase of a cuddle bed for the future Saugeen Hospice.
The specially designed bed allows loved ones to remain close to those receiving end-of-life care, ensuring comfort and connection during some of life’s most difficult moments.
The contribution brings Saugeen Hospice one step closer to its $10 million fundraising goal. Once that goal is reached, construction will begin on a residential hospice facility to serve the southern areas of Grey and Bruce counties.
The hospice will offer professional, compassionate end-of-life care in a dedicated setting—something currently lacking in the region.
“The need for these services is significant,” the organization said in a statement. “Having them available closer to home, offered with dignity, care, and comfort, will be a profound benefit to our communities.”
A Simple Model with Major Impact
100 Women Who Care Grey Bruce operates on a straightforward premise: members meet four times a year, commit $100 per meeting, and collectively donate the full amount to a local charity selected through a member vote.
Meetings are held at the Bruce County Museum & Cultural Centre in Southampton, which donates the space for the group’s use. Virtual access is also available for those who cannot attend in person. Members who are unable to participate in the meeting still receive updates and a link to cast their vote online.
At each gathering, three local charities are selected at random and presented by members. The charity receiving the most votes receives the full donation total—an approach that enables organizations to pursue projects that might otherwise be out of reach.
In 2024 alone, the group donated $107,100 to four local charities. With their May donation to Saugeen Hospice, the 2025 total is already on pace to exceed that amount.
Upcoming Meeting and Membership
The next meeting of 100 Women Who Care Grey Bruce will take place on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at the Bruce County Museum.
Membership is open to any woman who donates and commits to attending four meetings. Any member in good standing can nominate charities.
